Careers with Cohen

When you work for Cohen, you are joining a family who has been in the business of recovering recyclable materials for four generations. Started in 1924 by two brothers just looking to make a living with what they could carry in a cart, Cohen is now one of the nation's largest scrap metal recyclers and employs over 550 employees — and growing. Our facilities include automobile shredders, balers, shears, mobile shearing, torch processing, auto crushers, an extensive truck and railcar fleet, landfill services and railcar dismantling.

Cohen is People Powered Recycling. To us, that means:

  • Safety is a core value. The safety of our employees is non-negotiable, and we are constantly striving to create the safest possible conditions and a culture of safety excellence. Priorities can change; core values do not.
  • People come before profit. Cohen continually reinvests in our workforce and seeks to support them both on and off the job. As a family-owned company, we are not beholden to shareholders, and that lets us put our employees' welfare over the demand for profit. Our unparalleled benefits package includes excellent medical, dental, vision, voluntary life, short term and long term disability insurance; a 401(k) program; and an employee-supported emergency fund to help those recovering from a crisis. Not to mention the intangible benefits like stability, local truck routes for our drivers, good hours and starting salaries, and the potential to shape your career path within our vast and diverse operations.
  • Family owned, community driven. Without the communities that support us by selling their recyclable metals and electronics to us, we could not exist. Cohen provides material and financial support to a number of local causes, events, and organizations, and welcomes suggestions and participation from our employees.

If this sounds like the kind of organization you would be proud to work for, we welcome interested applicants to view our current job openings below.
